History of Haagen-Dazs
I would first like to give you a brief explanation of the Haagen-Dazs Company history, as for you to better understand the company as a whole.
Haagen-Dazs began with a dream formed by a young entrepreneur named Reuben Mattus around the 1930's. Reuben found love for ice cream by working in his mother's ice cream business. He would sell fruit ice and ice cream pops from a horse-drawn wagon in the bustling streets of the Bronx, New York. Reuben had developed a vision he wanted to create quality ice cream with only the finest ingredients. After 3 decades of running his mothers ice cream shop, Reuben was determined to make his dream into a reality.
Around 1960, Reuben decided to start a new ice cream company that would envelope his vision. This company would be called Haagen-Dazs, a name which Reuben felt would capture the sense of old world tradition and craftsmanship. Reuben's unique recipes and natural ingredients created distinctive indulging tastes.
Soon, even without the help of advertisement Haagen-Dazs began to boom, and by 1973 Haagen-Dazs had spread to the entire United States. By 1976, Reuben's daughter opened another Haagen-Dazs shop, which brought tremendous success to the company. By 1983, Reuben Mattus decided to sell his successful ice cream company to The Pillsbury Company on the condition that they stay true to his vision. Pillsbury has indeed stayed true to Haagen-Dazs' roots and the quality ice cream has now become an international success.
